Hello,

Currently waypoints are only shown when you fly in AUTO. Thats a pitty.

I would propose to introduce a kind of map which can be used on one panel for orientation. In this rectangular map the vehicle posistion and direction, the direction (N, E, S, W) and the waypoints should be shown. Maybe with the active waypoint in red color or at least with a bold sign.

The benefit would also be if you don´t fly in "AUTO" as you can set waypoints as a kind of POI (point of interest) to which you can fly manually.

Example:
There are 2 castles (on a hill) in a distance of 1km and another point of interest, maybe an old temple (in the lowland) which you want to film. Of course the castles can you find easily as they are on the hill, but the temple in the lowlands is harder to find.

So I would set waypoints in Mission Planner and will find them all easy in this map.

From technical points of view the waypoints should be loaded at the start of the OSD and then after the homeposistion is known (2d or 3d fix) a analysis should start what is the biggest distance between all waypoints. Based on this distance the scaling factor of the map is calculated. This scaling need to be recalculated after the copter is no more in this map because you fly far away. Then maybe with a additional channel (Arducopter 3.3 supports more then 8 channel) there coud be the possibility to zoom out and zoom in, based on the copter posistion. A 3 Level switch could be used in the transmitter. Middle position "do nothing", Low posistion "zoom in by 50%", High position "Zoom Out by 50%". The trigger should be the transition from Middle to Low (or High)

Example:
The copter starts far away (2km) from two waypoints/POI which itself are only 100m away.
Then with Autoscaling the copter can fly near to the Waypoints and the you simply zoom in.

This map feature would be completely new as (at least me) don´t know any OSD which is able to show this information.

Hi Joerg,

Interesting feature! And I think it can be implemented, though it requires time to make it ideally visual and easy-to-operate. I will look it up and check details of the prototype. It surely will make operation much easier for the pilots if we can realize auto zoom. Thanks for the great idea. We will keep this updated.

Now we have two video inputs but I like to se two video outputs. If you have skyzone 3D FPV googles there are two separate transmitter so you have to have two OSD device to get it both eyes. Would it be possible to do with current hardware?

Hi, it is great idea. Yet it seems not possible to be implemented with the current design. In addition to the hardware, the firmware also needs to be modified to display different information for two videos. There may be other solutions. We will look into it. Thanks for your suggestion:)

Hi Joerg,

I have made a test firmware. The "map" is shown at panel 3 with hard-code. To make it work you need to set "Misc_Max_Panels" to 3, because the config tool is not updated yet. It displays home, all the way-points and UAV with direction. It can be zoom in/out automatic according to the distance. The firmware can be downloaded at:

Hi Tom,
just back from a short vacation and saw this. Perfect I will test it. I just saw also the other thread that a new config tool and firmware is available so I can officially update and don´t need to use this firmware in this thread?
